Description
User Experience
美 (mei) , a word to describe something beautiful. Beauty as a person is being defined by media as people with the “perfect” features. This is not what beauty is all about. Beauty, as written in chinese, 美portrays a uniqueness in a person and not how they should be defined as beauty through their looks and physical appearance. This project explains the meaning of “Beauty by Nature” through a “pre-show gallery”. It is not aimed just to create a new shopping experience, but at the same time, making shoppers experience what 美 is all about. Everybody are born different and unique, and that is what makes each and everyone of us 美 .
Survey results have proven that shoppers are more inclined to physical shopping. Therefore, we had decided to go on a “physical shopping” trip. Tampines (Singapore), a hotspot for shopping to the people living in the East was the site chosen for our “physical shopping” trip. There, we get to see 3 different types of shopping malls with a variety of retail stores designed with different types of shopping experiences. From there, we get to evaluate and observe what it is like doing physical shopping and whether if shoppers are enjoying their experience shopping at Tampines One and Tampines Mall.
Our Concept
Our concept is explained through a pre-show gallery in collaboration with Pomelo, an online store. It is not aimed just to create a new experience for shoppers but also letting shoppers know what being 美 (beautiful) is all about.
There will be a virtual try on section where shoppers can cut the fitting room queue by trying on virtually at our virtual reality wall. Not only does it reduce the waiting time to try on, but also to create a fun experience for shoppers where they can easily send the image to social media.
A self customise booth is located near for consumers who wants to be unique and customise their outfit such as having iron on patches. However, item can only be collected after 3 weeks.
Talking about promoting beauty, we will have models of different height and sizes wearing the clothes and walking around the store as shop assistant. Shoppers are then able to interact with the model and see how the clothes fits and flow. For people who are shy, fear not! The models will have tags on them to locate you to the specific item.
As we all know, user experience goes from the start to the end of consumer's shopping experience. Hence even at checkout, the experience is taken into consideration and its often noticed that there are queues for payment. To address this, we decided to have QR code on clothing tags that will link to your iBanking/Paynow. Shoppers can then pay as they walk and then proceed to the counter should they need a paper bag (with prove of payment).
