There is no blood donation centre for pets in Singapore and there is very little knowledge about blood donation. Research and survey have shown that 98% of pet owners do not know they can donate their pets blood and even if they do, they do not know where to do so. Many of them found it a hassle despite knowing their pets are eligible for donating blood. Another research shows that many pets actually died from the lack of blood (time to get it & lack of supply) as there are very limited blood in storage.

Animal Blood Unit collaborates with Mount Pleasant Veterinary to create a platform for owners to know about blood donation as well creating convenience for them by implementing a mobile blood bank truck that will be driving around neighbourhoods. A sign up registry to be a blood donor will be put at Mount Pleasant Veterinary booth at Pet Expo 2018 that is held every year for owners to attend with their pet (to get free health checks, freebies, etc). Before a person register their pet, their pet will be entitled to a free health check to see if they fit the requirement of being a donor.

The data base registry create a platform for vets to reach out to donors when in need of blood to avoid the need of going through social media or multiple phone calls. Donor who are on the list will be verified and when in need of blood themselves, they will be put on priority list.
